Bob's South African Safari

Day Four: April 27, 2005

Early the next day, I stopped off at the range to confirm my zero on my 7 STW because I dropped it.  It was still right on.  Within 10 minutes, I was on foot with Martinus and Obed chasing a Nyala we saw standing on a dam.  We lost it and yet located 2 others right away.

One was magnificent standing broadside at 211 yards across the sand river.  Obed set up the bipod sticks and said, “Take him he is a good one.”  The Nyala ran 50 yards and fell.  It was a perfect heart lung shot.   This was a very nice bull with unusual spread on the horns.

The 160 grain Nosler Accubond performed perfectly.  This is a large and heavy muscled animal.  The bullet passed through both shoulders. This day I observed a lot of animals, none of which I needed or could get to.
